Coding for Kids & Seniors

>>> Invitation by Generation 65 Plus GmbH

ABOUT
We are developing a learning program that teaches the fundamentals of digitization and the associated possibilities. Target groups are children, young people and seniors. The goal is to make younger generations as well as older generations fit for the digital future.

BACKGROUND FROM THE PERSPECTIVE: THE SENIORS
The project has resulted from the findings of various AAL projects (AAL = Active Assisted Living), where it has been concluded that a successful market introduction of digital tools to increase the quality of life of the elderly but also to support a longer autonomous life in the own four walls depends on the non-existent ability of the operation and on the acceptance. In order to minimize both barriers, we start Coding for Kids & Seniors, as we expect older people to learn particularly well along with their grandchildren plus an experienced pedagogically trained person who has experience with older people.

BACKGROUND FROM THE PERSPECTIVE: THE CHILDREN & YOUTH
The younger generations are faced with the challenges of digitization. They are often left alone because parents are overstretched and teachers are not yet adequately prepared for it or schools are not proper equipped. A link to the real world and the support that results from it is usually not made. Professional opportunities often remain hidden because neither parents nor teachers know about new jobs in the field of digitization. Our project is aimed at these torn-up problems.

OUR OFFER
As a team (one adolescent and one senior citizen), the topic of coding and robotics is explored. In six different levels with several robots such as e.g. BeeBot, Zoomer, Dash, Lego Boost and Zora the team can learn how to control a robot via a tablet or a smartphone and how robotics can make life easier for every generation. The teaser events in the public such as GZ Heuried, GZ Bäckeranlage, GZ Bullingertreff and Kindertreff Viaduct are for free.
